Learn How To Put The Saw Blade Into The Saw Frame in Minutes

I have been Sawing with the Piercing Saw for over 10 years and general jewellery making for 20 years and onwards. A term for putting the blade into the saw frame is called Stringing. Tension in the fretsaw is very important to prevent breaking the blade. When first making your cut or kerf in the metal, the piercing saw should be at an angle and then continue to remain perpendicular or vertical.

Top Tip in Sawing

Try to avoid twisting the blade as you saw as this can easily break your blade. There is a term known as blade freeze when the saw blade is stuck within the cut of metal or kerf. To avoid breakage, remove the blade from the thumbscrew of the saw frame and ease the blade out of the metal. Do not use great force.
